More fun with Cascadia Expeditions!

Cascadia Expeditions has a lot of fun planned for this summer and beyond.  Thanks to a very successful Indiegogo campaign last fall, Cascadia Expeditions has been able to implement many of its ideas for some new adventures. I sat down with Harry Apelbaum awhile ago to catch up, and he was very excited about what is happening and what the future holds.

Raft the Summer Away:  First, head over to the website and check out the new trip list! Rafting is one of their specialties, and there are many trips to choose from.  New trips include Summer Solstice rafting on the Deschutes River and a Sandy River Twilight float.

Adventure Dating! If you’re looking for an adventure partner, check out the new Adventure Dating series of trips. These events are limited to 20 people, are grouped by age range, and Cascadia Expeditions does its best to even out the gender split. Sounds to me like a lot more fun than Match.com!

Adventure Yoga!  In what may seem like a contradiction in terms, Cascadia Expeditions is now also offering Adventure Yoga! Led by certified yoga teachers, these expeditions have you exploring beautiful wilderness, while also exploring the mind-body connection.  What a great way to improve your yoga practice.

Local Partners:  Another exciting development is a new partnership with some local park districts: Corvallis, Albany, West Linn, and North Clackamas. Cascadia Expeditions adventures are listed in their catalogs.  Cascadia Expeditions has also partnered with a fishing outfitter for fishing trips.

Giving Back:  Of course, expanding its trips allows Cascadia Expeditions to also expand its Adventure Outreach program. Cascadia Expeditions is continuing to build partnerships with local community groups to make their adventures available to everyone.  From rafting to hikes to rock climbing, Harry says they are working with groups to customize the trips to be accessible for everyone and to fit their budgets.  Many of these trips are led by volunteers, so contact Cascadia if you’re interested!

Community:  It is so wonderful to see how Cascadia Expeditions is flourishing!  It is such a great example of two Portlanders building a dream and involving the community to make it come true. It seems a perfect expression of the entrepreneurial spirit thriving in Portland – the idea of not just building a business, but of also enriching lives.

Thanks Harry for taking the time to meet with me!
